We are recruiting new volunteers until Thursday 20th August. Please read through the role descriptions below, and if you think that you are well suited to either or both roles please apply using the button at the bottom of the page.
In-house volunteers
Our in-house volunteers are based at the Food Bank in South Street, Bishop’s Stortford. Main duties include:
- Sorting donations
- Checking dates on food items
- Replenishing stock and undertaking stock audits
- Shopping/collecting food from supermarkets
- Preparing food parcels to be delivered
- Packing the pre-prepared boxes
- Overseeing deliveries as they go out
- Talking to clients in a supportive and non-judgemental manner
- Signposting clients to other agencies.
Volunteer drivers
Our part-time drivers assist with deliveries and collections in and around Bishop’s Stortford. Main duties include:
- Collecting food parcels from the Food Bank
- Delivering food parcels to people in the Stort Valley area
- Follow our safeguarding, data protection and lone-working protocols
- Picking up food donations from local supermarkets, schools, community groups and businesses.
