How to get food

To receive a food parcel, you must be referred to us by an agency or service (known as a voucher holder or authorised referring agency). They will send us a voucher so we can give you food and other support.

Please ensure you contact someone before you have nothing left, as a referral to us could take a couple of days.

There is a simple process to make sure you receive help as soon as possible:

Ways to request a food voucher:-

  1. If you are currently working with an agency or service, speak with them as they may be able to issue a food voucher.
  2. If this is not an option, please contact East Herts Citizens Advice on 01920 459 944 and take the option to leave a message (anytime). One of the advisors will call you back (usually within 24 hours, except weekends). The call back may be on an 0800 or a private number so please answer the call. You can also visit their website for more information.
  3. The voucher holder/authorised referring agency – will talk to you about your needs. If you are eligible, they will send us a food voucher on your behalf.
  4. On receipt of the voucher, we will put together your food parcel then contact you to arrange when it can be collected or delivered.

In a food emergency-

Please note that the Social Prescribing team at Herts and Essex hospital is NO LONGER ABLE to hold emergency boxes for us. We are working on setting up an alternative arrangement.

In the meantime if you have a food emergency out of our hours, you could attend https://www.thetouchpoint.org/the-touchpoint-community-food-share/ which is a food waste project and does not require referral.
